Richard L. Mott, 77, of Whitestown, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Compassus Hospice in Indianapolis. He was born in Lafayette, Indiana on November 6, 1946, a son of the late Alexis and Esther (Franson) Mott.
On February 21, 1970, he married Debbie J. (Perkins) Mott at the First Presbyterian Church in Lebanon.
Richard was a 1965 graduate of Lebanon High School and attained a degree in Industrial Management from Purdue University in 1970. Richard worked in commercial leasing for Chase Bank for many years.
He was a devoted husband and proud father and grandfather. He was a member of New Hope Christian Church since 1983 and dedicated to serving and enriching the congregation he loved dearly. Always with a Bible in hand, Richard was happy to teach, counsel or encourage anyone. He also enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, sporting clays and fireside fellowship.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie; two children, Jed (Elizabeth) Mott of Brownsburg and Jenny Tuggle of Whitestown; four grandchildren, Noah, Caleb, Abigail, and David Mott; brother, Larry J. (Wilma) Mott of Crawfordsville; sister, Joanne Stewart of Lebanon; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Charles “Bobby” Stewart.
A Celebration of Life is planned for 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at New Hope Christian Church, 5780 South Main Street, Whitestown, IN 46075. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services at the church. Myers Mortuary has been entrusted with his arrangements.
