Subject From 2022 Standoff Arrested Again for Intimidation

On March 2, 2022, Nicholas Schuhler, 31 years old, of Zionsville, IN was arrested and charged with Carrying a Handgun Without a License; Class A Misdemeanor, and 4 counts of Pointing a Firearm; Level 6 Felony, after a 7- hour standoff with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, Zionsville Police Department and Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department.

On September 23, 2022, Schuhler was placed in a mental health treatment facility before pleading guilty to 2 counts of Pointing a Firearm: Level 6 Felony. Schuhler was ultimately sentenced to 1 ½ Years Department of Corrections followed by 3 years of supervised probation.

Shortly after September 7, 2023, Schuhler took to social media and electronic mail accusing Boone County

Government entities of covering up a death investigation of a past girlfriend and other miscellaneous outlandish misconduct by government officials. Due to the ominous tone of the emails, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office began to actively monitor the situation and eventually opened an investigation into the communications. On September 21, 2023, Schuhler sent an email to Sheriff Tony Harris advising that money needed to be provided to his family for the cost of living and that if he was not taken seriously, he would “slowly kill” officers involved in his accusations. Schuhler reported that he should not be messed with, this was not a harmless joke, and the Sheriff was running out of time.

On the afternoon of September 21, 2023, Schuhler was apprehended in Marion County by Boone County Sheriff’s Office Deputies on a preliminary charge of Intimidation; Level 6 Felony. Schuhler was then transported to the Boone County Jail to await formal charge(s) by the Boone County Prosecutor’s Office. Additionally, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office will forward paperwork to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office for a potential charge of Resisting Law Enforcement which occurred during Schuhler’s apprehension.
