Sue Carol Goodman

Sue Carol Goodman, 87, passed away Thursday morning, September 7, 2023, at Life’s Journey Hospice of Avon. She was born February 6, 1936 in Lebanon, Indiana, the daughter of the late John Ross and Velma (Proffitt) Turpin. Her beloved brother Richard Turpin and wife Loraine preceded her in in death.

Originally married to Ronald Dickerson with whom she raised two sons Gregg and John. She then married William Young who passed away following a short illness. On 14 February 2004, Sue married Marion Goodman who was better known as Ned. They spent many happy years travelling and sharing many rewarding experiences before he passed.

Sue was a 1954 graduate of Perry Central High School. She worked as a receptionist in medical offices for several years. For many years, she was a lifelong member of Mt. Tabor Primitive Baptist Church in Fayette, Indiana where she served as the pianist and occasional vocal soloist.

Sue was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved her family dearly. She enjoyed tending to her flower garden, shopping in her free time, and visiting with old friends. To be always remembered, her sense of humor brought endless enjoyment to family members at holiday gatherings. Most of all, she enjoyed time with her grandchildren while they participated in music, athletics, and 4-H. She always made time to be there for each and every one of them.

Survivors include sons, Dr. Gregg A. (Deena) Dickerson of Greenville, Mississippi and John C. (Vakena) Dickerson of Ladoga, Indiana; grandchildren, Christina Dickerson, Chadrick Dickerson, Chelsea Dickerson of Lone Tree, Colorado, Casey (Aleasa) Dickerson of Hope, Indiana, and Courtney (Justin) Stierwalt of Hillsborough, Indiana; great grandchildren, Graham and Tucker Dickerson, and Sutton Stierwalt; nieces and nephews, Lori A. Turpin Brownsburg, Indiana, Nancy L (Wayne) Marsh Danville, Indiana, Richard E. (Melissa) Turpin Brownsburg, Indiana, and Samuel R. Turpin Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Funeral Services are planned for 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow services at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Fayette.
