Whitestown Man Arrested Following Domestic Shooting Incident

 

WHITESTOWN, Ind. – On June 14, 2026, at 7:21 p.m., officers with the Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department responded to a residence in the 3700 block of Indigo Blue Boulevard following a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, the first responding officer encountered an adult male exiting the residence with his hands raised. The individual immediately stated to officers that he had shot his father. Officers safely detained the suspect without incident and secured the scene.

Officers then entered the residence and located the victim, an adult male, who had sustained a gunshot wound to his foot. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, provided treatment, and transported the victim to a local hospital. The victim is currently listed in stable condition.

The suspect, later identified as Rutherford Keener, 28, of Whitestown, was taken into custody and transported to the Boone County Jail on pending preliminary charges of:

• Attempted Murder

• Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon

• Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon

This incident appears to be isolated in nature, and there is no threat to the community.

This arrest is based upon probable cause of a crime. All crimes mentioned in this release are alleged, and all suspects are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
