Ivy Tech Campuses Help Meet Demand for Paramedics and EMTs

Indiana is facing a shortage of paramedics due to increasing demand for emergency medical services. To help meet the demand, Ivy Tech Community College Lafayette in partnership with the Ivy Tech Kokomo campus is offering a pathway for students who want to make a difference as a public servant.

The program allows students in Lafayette to attend virtual lectures online and attend their lab sessions at the Ivy Tech Kokomo campus, which can be taken at convenient times. Students need to attend only one virtual lecture and one in-person lab per week. The lectures and labs are offered on three different days of the week, and students can choose the day that is most convenient to them on a weekly basis. This allows Lafayette students to fit their class work into their busy and often varied schedules.

Applications for the program are being accepted now through May 15 at ivytech.edu/apply/NursingAndHealthSciences. Late applications may be accepted by emailing [email protected].

Students requiring the EMT course, please reach out to Tami Shepard[email protected] , as summer and fall options may be available.

The program begins in the Fall 2023 that begins in August, and ends in May 2025. Classes are held consecutively through 21 months and the schedule recognizes college breaks and major holidays.

The program is eligible for an Employer Training Grant offered through the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. Financial aid is available to qualified students.
