Dorothy (Dottie) L. Detamore, age 86, of Whitestown began her new life rejoicing with Jesus on June 12, 2023. Dorothy was born on July 13, 1936, to Clifton (Pat) Branham and Helen (William) Goode from Indianapolis, Indiana, all of which preceded her in death. She spent much of her childhood in Indianapolis, a graduate of Ben Davis High School later earning an Associate’s degree from Indiana University. She then became a Hoosier fan. Dorothy was previously married to Archie Vance who preceded her in death. She still considered his siblings family. In all Dorothy had 10 brothers and sisters combined. She made a tremendous effort to spend time with each and every one of them even though it became much more difficult later in life.
She was married to Jim Detamore who adored her for 48 years. He preceded her in death in 2020. She dearly missed him. She is survived by her children: Boni (Bret) Hypes, Donita (Rob) Hough, Kelly (Dave) Peisker, and Terri (PJ) Caldwell. Together with Jim, they owned and operated a local insurance agency; all while working at St. Vincent Hospital and raising the kids. She loved hosting family celebrations from birthdays to holidays. Anything so that she could spend time with her family, especially her 7 grandkids and 20 great grandkids.
Along with the years she spent in the workforce, she served the community in a number of ways including volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House. She was a member of the Lebanon Christian Church.
It was Dorothy’s wish to have a private funeral service. A celebration of her life will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or Tunnel to Towers. Arrangements are in the care of Myers Mortuary in Lebanon.
