The Frankfort Parks Department officially opened the Lester Paul Wainscott Tennis Courts at TPA Park with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The facility will feature six pickleball courts and two tennis courts at the facility. Another facility featuring pickleball courts only is coming later to Dorner Park.

The Parks Department started the demolition of tennis courts in December of 2022 with Phase 1. Phase 2 began in late spring with Crenshaw Paving leveling the ground for new asphalt. The $274,000 project is complete, with six pickleball and two tennis courts. The new court amenities include lighting, fencing, paint, nets, and signage.

“We knew there is a large presence for pickleball in Frankfort, and I am happy that we have added another great amenity to TPA Park for our community,” stated Mayor Judy Sheets. “We know the community will love this space. It is a great way to enjoy tennis and pickleball without being indoors.”

TPA Park is an 88-acre park with many activities for families and friends. Families can enjoy the playground, Sapphire Bay, The Commons Golf Course, new pickleball courts, and more. TPA Park closes daily at 11 p.m.
