Community Day Officials Shooting for September Date to Reschedule Event

No date has been for Community Day at the Frankfort Clinton County Regional Airport.

The date had been scheduled Saturday, July 15, but was cancelled due to several factors including the PBY Pilot contracted COVID, the weather forecast for Frankfort was not conducive for holding the event, parachute jumps were doubtful, bounce houses could not be deployed due to the weather and safety consideration for all inbound pilots and aircraft was questioned.

“We are going to shoot for a September date as a makeup for the Community Day that we had scheduled in July,” said Frankfort Clinton County Airport Authority Board President Alan Dunn. “If I had to guess, I would it say it either be tentatively the 16th or the 23rd (0f September). We have a working group trying to get everybody’s schedules to coordinate and pull that together.”

Dunn added they wanted to have it sometime in September because the weather is more conducive to having a lot of the public show up.

Also, the Airport Board has been wanting to update its sign on State Road 28 for some time.

“That’s an expensive proposition,” said Dunn. “Signs you wouldn’t think of as an expensive item, but it is one. So, we’re going to move that to the 2024 budget. We’ve had some other things that we focused on that year. Next year, we don’t have a big project in the pipeline. So, it’s the perfect year to do some airfield improvements and updates.”

Dunn added the new sign will be the centerpiece of the updates for 2024.
