Open To Public Wednesday Evening: Historical Portrayal of Amelia Earhart Coming to Frankfort Library

The Zonta Club of Frankfort is excited to offer Amelia Earhart: Historical Portrayal, featuring Leslie Goddard at the Frankfort Community Public Library in Skanta Theatre. Goddard’s presentation begins at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11, and the public is invited to attend. This event is free and open to all ages.

It is 1937 and Amelia Earhart is already internationally renowned for such achievements as being the first woman to cross the Atlantic Ocean in an airplane… Now she is attempting a flight around the world. In this lively living-history program, meet Amelia (Goddard), the first woman of flight! She will describe how she learned to fly, what inspired her adventurous spirit, and why she set off in 1937 for an around-the-world flight. This presentation is inspired by Amelia Earhart’s books 20 Hrs., 40 Min. (1928); The Fun of It (1932) and Last Flight (1937).

Leslie Goddard graduated with a Ph.D. in American Studies and U.S. History from Northwestern University. She also holds a master’s degree in theater.  She has been dramatizing the history of strong memorable women for more than 15 years. Goddard says, “I give voice to fascinating stories from the past. As entertaining as they are informational, these programs bring history alive in a fun, inspiring, and educational way.” (www.lesliegoddard.info). She is a former museum director and the author of Remembering Marshall Field’s and Lost Chicago Department Stores
