The Frankfort Community Public Library announced the activities available to the community throught the Michigan Road branch, the Mulberry branch and the Rossville branch through the beginning of the year.
During the winter months, the library and its branches are hosting numerous activities for the community to enjoy, including new activities, such as snow-globe making, mixed with recurring activities, such as book clubs.
Michigan Road Community Library at 2489 N. State Road 29 in Michigantown:
Chylene Click, Michigan Road Community Library Branch Supervisor, shared the upcoming events and activities for the community to enjoy through the beginning of 2024.
As the community rings in the New Year, the Michigan Road Community Library is cementing its programming for children of all ages, including the Saturday Craft for children ages three though sixth grade, Tiny Tikes for adults and children ages 18 months to three years, Little learners for children ages three years to kindergarten and School Age Special for children from first grade through sixth grade. Click revealed that this year, the library will resume its family movie or craft evenings with additional adult programs.
Tiny Tikes and Little Learners will take place on the first two Thursdays of each month. Tiny Tikes will be held from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with Little Learners following at 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on Jan. 4, Jan. 11, Feb. 1 and Feb. 8.
Mz. Liz, known around the libraries as “the crazy science lady,” will be hosting the School Age Special on Jan. 23 and Feb. 27 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with the themes of “All About That Jazz” and “I Dragons.” The programs have limited space, and community members are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible to secure their spot.
Saturday Craft days with Click will be held on Jan. 13 and Feb. 10. The January class will be painting snowman canvases while the February class will be making Valentine’s water globes.

Mulberry Community Library at 615 E. Jackson St. in Mulberry:
Kris Dalton-Smith, Mulberry Community Library’s Branch Clerk, announced the upcoming activities that will be available to patrons throughout the winter months. The library already launched the Take-It Make-It kits that are currently available at the library. The kits include a New Year’s Eve Celebration Drum that will ensure that the New Year will be rung in with lots of noise to celebrate. The kits are available until Friday, Dec. 29 at 5 p.m. to ensure that community members are able to possess the kits before New Year’s Eve.
Beginning Feb. 5, the community will be invited to select a kit for a Snoopy Snowflake Globe. Classes will be available for the creation of the snowglobes, and community members may sign up online at myfcpl.org.
The Mulberry Book Club will be reading “The Long Way Back” by Nicole Baart to kick off the New Year with copies available at the front desk of the branch. Those interested in joining the Mulberry Book Club may contact the library at 765-297-2604 for more information.
The genealogy group will not meet during the months of January through March. Members are encouraged to contact the library for more information about the time and date of the meeting in April.
For the card sharks in the community, euchre will meet twice a month from January through March from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., including Jan. 6, Jan. 20, Feb. 3, Feb. 17, March 2 and March 16. Those interested in joining the euchre sessions are encouraged to contact the library at 765-297-2604.
Rossville Community Library at 400 W. Main St. in Rossville:
Kathy Scircle, Rossville Community Library Branch Operations Manager, released information about the upcoming events and activities taking place at the Rossville Community Library throughout the beginning of the year.
The Rossville Adult Coloring group and the Puzzle Enthusiasts have organized a combined meeting on Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m. where visitors will be treated to coloring supplies and puzzles for anyone that wishes to join the festivities. The groups will met on Jan. 2, Jan. 9, Jan. 16, Feb. 6, Feb. 13, Feb. 20 and Feb. 27.
As a chilly treat for all ages during the winter months, the Rossville Public Library will be hosting times for community members to create snowmen for display at the library. The craft will allow for community members to utilize a modeling compound and other craft supplies to create their snowmen. Children five and older may visit the library on Wednesday, Jan. 3 before 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. or Thursday, Jan. 4 between 1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to create a snowman while supplies last.
The first ever puzzle swap at the Rossville Community Library will commence on Saturday, Jan. 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. where community members may trade puzzles with other community members or choose from puzzles donated to the library. A second puzzle swap will take place on Feb. 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Friends of the Rossville Library will host its annual Winter Book sale on Friday, Jan. 26 through Saturday, Feb. 3. The sale will be held in the meeting room. The items for sale will include withdrawn and donated items for adults and children, including fiction and nonfiction books and some DVDs. Items may be purchased for cash donations, and community members are welcome to browse the selection during the library’s hours of operation.
